Susan Arbetter, director of News & Public Affairs at WCNY & host of the Capitol Pressroom radio show was the keynote speaker. Arbetter discussed the importance of civic engagement during her presentation “Just Do It: Why Meaningful Democracy Requires Action.”
The Moving People Transportation Coalition received the OCL Study Championship Award for their work increasing awareness of I-81 related issues and how critical decisions on “How CNY Moves,” will affect the overall quality of life for all citizens.
The Consensus Committee received the 2017 OCL Levi L. Smith Civic Education Award. The Levi Smith Award honors outstanding citizens and organizations for their contributions to the practice of civic education and their commitment to citizen involvement in public affairs.

MAKERS: Women Who Make America celebrated the work of ten women on March 10,2017. The event, held at the Women’s Rights Historical Park in Seneca Falls celebrated the contributions of these women and their efforts in the community.
