RETHINKING I-81:  THE HIGHWAY
The Onondaga Citizens League “Rethinking I-81” Study Committee has been studying the history and the physical condition of the I-81 corridor, reviewed access issues, and examined cases of freeway removals in American cities.   The study report will be issued later this spring.  Here are several factors concerning the physical characteristics of the highway that the Committee found important to an understanding of the project. THE I-81 CHALLENGE:  Within the next few years, the NYS Department of Transportation, and the local community, will be faced with decisions concerning replacement of the deteriorated elevated portions of Interstate 81 - decisions that will have lasting impact on the entire community, not just those who use the freeway.  Our goal is to see that we meet the I-81 challenge with a vision not mired in the past, but looking toward the needs of tomorrow.  Follow the OCL study.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE GREEN?
